Common name: Scarlet Bottlebrush

4x4m.

This evergreen shrub is robust and lively, with delicate slender green leaves that taper to a point.

During late spring, summer, and sometimes autumn, it produces dense cylindrical spikes that resemble bottlebrushes.

Its growth is rapid, reaching full size in just a few years.

Like most Callistemon, it is easily grown and attracts bird life to your luxurious garden.

Moist, friable soil that is well drained - a light layer of mulch is beneficial.

A gentle pruning after flowering will maintain a compact shape. The flower should be pruned just before it dies to encourage optimal growth.

Avoid over-fertilizing - a light sprinkling of blood and bone in spring is sufficient.

This resilient and hardy species is rarely affected by illness.

The name is derived from the subtle citrus scent released when leaves are crushed,

This stunning screen shrubbery boasts striking red flowers that bloom from January to April and again in September to December in the Southern Hemisphere.

Perfect for full sun and wind/salt tolerant positions, this elegant plant is a must-have for any sophisticated garden.
