Common name: western myall

2-8 metres

Blooming from August to November, Acacia papyrocarpa boasts striking yellow flowers in spherical clusters measuring 5 mm (0.20 in) in diameter and containing 20 to 25 golden blooms.

Endemic to the arid regions of central Australia, it can be found on limestone plains in southern areas stretching from Paynes Find in Western Australia to South Australia, with one unique specimen at Cooper Creek in Queensland.

In Roxby Downs, South Australia, a weeping variety of this species is fittingly known as water myall. Its preferred habitat includes low limestone rises, saline or clay flats, and calcareous sandy loam or clay soils.

With a medium to tall growth habit and a regal umbrella-shaped crown, Acacia papyrocarpa is a striking ornamental shrub that was once used for fencing.

Additionally, its dense foliage makes it an excellent choice for creating a shelter or windbreak. This resilient species can withstand drought, lime, and moderate frosts.
