Howittia trilocularis is a erect shrub with attractive foliage that is deep green on top and whilst underneath they are pale, white, yellow or brownish, irregularly covered with rusty or whitish star-shaped hairs . The whitish, lavender or deep mauve flowers occur from September to January. Although it will grow in full sun prefers part shade in most soils as it was found growing in shaded valleys and on rainforest edges. Frost and drought tolerant once established.
