Common name: Holly grevillea, Holly bush

Among the Proteaceae family of flowering plants, Grevillea ilicifolia is a unique and exclusive specimen, found only in southern continental Australia.

Its prostrate shrub form boasts holly-like leaves with triangular to egg-shaped teeth and clusters of green to cream-colored and mauve flowers.

These blooms are delicately imbued with pink to red hues, sometimes even a subtle touch of orange or pale yellow.

Flowering from September to November, this plant's rachis reaches 20-50 mm in length, showcasing its beautiful arrangements.

Along with its exquisite style, the fruit of Grevillea ilicifolia is also noteworthy, adorned with a soft layer of fur.

Found in mallee, heath, and shrubland regions in South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales, this species is truly a rare and prized find.

Keep an eye out for the subspecies lobata, found exclusively in north-western Victoria and select regions within South Australia.
