Eucalyptus yarraensis
The Yarra gum, Eucalyptus yarraensis, represents a critically endangered endemic species native exclusively to Victoria.
Designated as critically endangered under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act in 2021, this tree warrants conservation attention.
Typically attaining heights of 15 to 20 metres with a distinctive lignotuber formation, it produces elegant white flowers blooming from September through December.
Historically inhabiting valley floors and adjacent slopes within open woodlands across the Melbourne, Daylesford, and Ararat regions, this species has experienced significant habitat loss due to agricultural clearing, making cultivation efforts particularly meaningful for ecological preservation.
