Leptospermum scoparium
Leptospermum scoparium, commonly known as mānuka or New Zealand teatree, is a compact, evergreen shrub that belongs to the myrtle family Myrtaceae.
It is native to New Zealand and southeast Australia, and its nectar is highly valued for its production of Mānuka honey.
This versatile plant is suitable for hedging, native and wildlife gardens, and can thrive in both sunny or shaded areas.
It is also a pioneer plant and is often used in land regeneration projects. Once established, it is frost tolerant.
To ensure healthy growth, regularly mulch and water the plant for the first 4-6 weeks until it becomes established. It typically grows to a height and width of 2m.
