Eucalyptus utilis, also known as coastal moort or platypus gum, is a type of mallet or mallee found in the southern regions of Western Australia. 

This species features smooth bark, egg-shaped to lance-shaped leaves, flower buds in groups of seven, creamy white flowers, and conical fruit.

Other names for this plant include Eucalyptus platypus var. heterophylla, and it can grow up to 15m tall as a tree or mallee.

It belongs to the MYRTACEAE family under the Eucalyptus genus, and is native to Greater WA. This species prefers soil types such as clay, sand, and swamps, and can tolerate harsh conditions like drought and heavy soils.

It is often used for a variety of purposes, such as attracting birds like black cockatoos, honeyeaters, insect eaters, and seed eaters, as well as providing firewood, fodder, screening, shelterbelts
