Swan Peach Myrtle - Hypocalymma robustum seeds
Scientific Name: HYPOCALYMMA robustum
Common Name: Swan Peach Myrtle
Family: Myrtaceae Height: Up to 1m (3′) Width: Up to 1m (3′)
Description: This evergreen shrub, known for its short linear leaves, produces a stunning display of pink flowers in late Winter and Spring. The flowers, profuse and clustered along the stems, are deep pink to mauve with flecks of mauve and gold and emit a pleasant scent.
This plant is drought and light frost resistant, making it suitable for full sun to part shade in Mediterranean-type climates.
However, it may not thrive in summer rainfall areas.
It is adaptable to different soil types, including limestone, and has been successfully cultivated in a variety of areas.
To sow the seeds, wet and compress moist sandy soil in a pot or seed tray, sprinkle the seeds thinly on the surface, and cover with a light amount of soil to the thickness of the seeds and add some seed starter mix.
Keep moist. Cover with clear polythene–remove when seeds start germinating, usuallly around 4-6 weeks). Place in warm shady position to germinate fully and protect from snails and slugs
