Eucalyptus behriana
Common names: Broad-leaf box, Bull mallee
This tree species, known as Indigenous Eucalyptus Behriana, is a hardy, multi-stemmed tree that can reach heights of up to 12 meters.
Its foliage ranges from open to moderately dense, with branches that grow in an ascending or erect manner.
The lower trunk is covered with fibrous bark, while the upper trunk and branches have a smooth texture.
The tree produces an abundance of white to cream flowers from September to February and is typically found in hot, sunny locations with well-drained soils.
It is tolerant to drought and frost and is commonly seen around the Rushworth area.
Additionally, it is valuable for its ability to prevent erosion and provide low to medium level coverage in windbreaks.
The flowers of this tree also serve as a food source for many insects.
