Austromyrtus tenuifolia or narrow-leaf myrtle with regular pruning makes a dense hardy hedge. It has narrow-leaves with five-petalled flowers which occur in the upper leaf axils in late spring through to summer. They are about 7mm in diameter and are followed by fleshy berries, round, light-purple and dotted with dark-purple spots the fruits are edible and can be used to make jams.
The habitat that it prefers is sheltered, damp situations, often found growing near streams.
