Native to the region stretching from Sydney to the NSW-Victorian border, this species—formerly classified as Leptospermum flavecens—serves dual purposes as an ornamental shrub and a valuable honey-producing plant.

Reaching 2–4 metres in height, it represents the optimal choice for honey production plantations in northern NSW, where it thrives in high-rainfall areas with well-draining, neutral to slightly acidic soils.

As a bioactive Leptospermum species, it holds significant potential for commercial cultivation, positioning it as a cornerstone species for the advancement of Australia's premium honey industry at both farm and industrial scales.
