Running Postman - Kennedia prostrata seeds
Kennedia prostrata, also known as "Running Postman" seeds, is a scrambling perennial groundcover that displays beautiful red pea-like flowers with yellow centers in spring and summer.
Its grey-green leaves make it a suitable groundcover for spilling over retaining walls or for use in hanging baskets.
One plant provides coverage of 1.5 to 2m.
This plant is native to southeastern and southwestern Australia and has various indigenous uses such as boiling the leaves for a tea with aniseed flavor and using the vines as twine.
The seeds of this plant are dormant and may take longer to germinate in certain environmental conditions, so be patient and follow proper pre-treatment and sowing methods.
This half-hardy perennial grows up to 10cm tall and thrives in well-drained soils with partial or full sun exposure. Tip pruning can help maintain a compact size.
