As a captivating small tree or shrub, Hakea Bucculenta (Hakea bucculenta) is commonly referred to as Red Pokers or Native Red Poker found in Western Australia and belongs to the Proteaceae family.
It boasts striking flowers in hues of red and orange that bloom in a distinctive rod-like shape from May to November.
This plant is highly attractive to birds.
Its delicate needle-like foliage complements the showy flowers, giving it an open growth habit.
Hakea Bucculenta makes an ideal feature plant in the garden or as a potted specimen to attract birds and insects.
It thrives in well-draining soil and is best located in a sheltered area to avoid being toppled by strong winds.
This particular Hakea variety does not fare well in humid regions.
