Banksia speciosa, large shrub or small tree. It has an open many-branched habit, arising from a single stem or trunk with smooth grey bark.
Leaves fan out in a circular pattern from the flower bud, creating a remarkable natural pattern. The cream to yellow flower spikes attract nectar- and insect-feeding birds, particularly honeyeaters, and a variety of insects. Flowers throughout the year, makes a great cut flower.
Grows well in a sunny location on well-drained soil in areas with dry summers
Used as a statement piece or in a screening
