Juncus pallidus, commonly called Great Soft Rush or Pale Rush, is a striking native plant endemic to Southern Australia and nearby Pacific regions.

This elegant species reaches approximately 1.5 metres in height, distinguished by its pale green stems and delicate pale yellow flowers that bloom from October through January.

Thriving in moisture-rich, nutrient-poor soils subject to periodic inundation, it naturally inhabits swamps, creek banks, lake margins and wetland edges across low open forests, sclerophyll woodlands and grassland plains.

Beyond its architectural appeal, this rush provides essential ecological value, offering critical habitat for native bird and frog species whilst contributing to the health of riparian and wetland ecosystems.
