Callistemon Firebrand ticks every box. A neat little ground cover bottlebrush with dark deep red flowers, which open in a distinctive conical fashion from bottom to top.

For massed planting on broad landscapes it has no equal. Put it into a smaller garden bed and keep it well trimmed, and the neighbours will be flocking to ask its name. Each time it flowers, just chop back the stems when the scarlet brushes are finished.

As this will grow in swamps and riverbanks in the wild it should perform ok in wetter soils too. Hardy and low maintenance.
